A sly but hopeful rascal, Mell is always ready to deliver a sarcastic response to his colleagues’ remarks. He has a loose style to his trombone playing which gives the group an edge to their music. Sgt. Pepper’s had his only existing fight with him because he was the first to suggest something different then what was in Pepper’s head. Even though he is seen as a jokester, it covers up an intensely erratic mindset. He is known to make empty threats but in Pepperland even those gestures are not favored. He also tries so hard to cover up his true self that he hardly takes anything seriously. He feels safer avoiding the truth then facing the music.
